Meet the racing legends who will help shape the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America: Richard Petty, Sir Jackie Stewart and Mario Andretti.

A shared mission unites these extraordinary Patrons: to bring together like-minded individuals from across the motorsport world. Deeply connected to Goodwood's heritage and America's racing community alike, our Patrons will play an integral role in your experience as a member.

Richard Petty

One of the all-time greats of NASCAR, Richard Petty has been at the center of many unforgettable racing moments at Goodwood. Born into a racing family, Petty made his first Grand National Series start in 1958 and won his first championship in 1964. He would go on to win a record seven NASCAR Cup Series titles and 200 races, including seven Daytona 500 victories. Petty earned his nickname ‘The King' in 1967 by winning 27 races in a single season and remains one of the most influential figures the sport has ever known.

Sir Jackie Stewart

There would be no Goodwood, and no GRRC, without Sir Jackie Stewart. His connection to Goodwood began in 1964 when Ken Tyrrell spotted his talent during a Formula 3 test at the Motor Circuit. From that moment, Stewart forged a lifelong relationship with Goodwood and three generations of the Richmond family.

In just nine Formula 1 seasons, he won World Championships in 1969, 1971 and 1973, and was widely regarded as the best racing driver in the world. Alongside his success on track, he also led a determined campaign to improve safety in motorsport, helping to transform Formula 1 and save countless lives. Today, Stewart remains a highly valued and influential member of the Goodwood community.

Mario Andretti

The godfather of modern American motorsport. Mario Andretti was the first global superstar to come out of the United States’ motor racing scene. During a remarkable career spanning five decades, he claimed the 1978 Formula 1 World Championship; four IndyCar championships; victories at the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500; three Sebring 12 Hours wins, and success at events ranging from Pikes Peak to the Daytona 24 Hours and Le Mans. His versatility across disciplines, from Formula 1 and IndyCar to NASCAR and endurance racing, remains unmatched.

Since retiring from competition, Andretti has become a cherished member of the Goodwood community and a regular presence at both the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival, where he continues to share his passion with GRRC.

I've been going to Goodwood for over 20 years now and it just gets bigger and better every time. People are always excited to see the Superbird, which my son Kyle drove the last time we were there – we went up the Goodwood Hill together side-by-side which was a really special moment. Goodwood is an experience and it's great that folks at home will have a chance to discover it for themselves.

Richard Petty

Goodwood is incredibly special to me. I remember going to watch my brother Jimmy race there when I was a boy; it's where I tested for Ken Tyrrell and was signed as a professional driver; and I hold the lap record with Jim Clark. So many American enthusiasts, drivers and cars make the journey to Goodwood every year, and now Goodwood is going to America – it's an exciting new chapter with the GRRC of America set to harness that passion!

Goodwood has always been a special place for drivers and fans alike – somewhere that truly understands the spirit of motorsport. I’ve had some wonderful experiences here over the years, so to be part of bringing the GRRC to the United States is incredibly exciting. America has an extraordinary passion for cars and racing, and if you’re a true motoring or motorsport enthusiast, this is going to be the club to be part of.
